Yes. Eat at Home uses Plaid to connect to your bank — the same technology used by thousands of financial apps. We never see your banking credentials, and we only have read-only access to your transactions. We cannot move funds or make any changes to your accounts.
How does Eat at Home calculate my savings?
Your savings baseline is your personal average restaurant spend — what you'd typically pay for a dinner out including tip and drinks. When you log a home meal, we estimate your cost using grocery data and calculate the difference. This means savings are based on your real habits, not a generic number.
Can I use the app without connecting my bank?
Yes — you can log meals manually without connecting a bank account. Connecting your bank enables automatic restaurant detection and more accurate savings calculations, but it's optional.
How do I disconnect my bank account?
You can disconnect your bank accounts at any time from the app's settings screen. Once disconnected, we stop receiving new transaction data. You can also revoke access directly through your bank's connected apps settings.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account from within the app's settings screen. All of your personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. If you have trouble, email us at support@eatathome.app and we'll take care of it manually.
