This policy explains how Eat at Home collects, uses, and protects your information — including financial data accessed through Plaid. We never sell your data.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Eat At Home ("the App"), operated by Eat At Home LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Eat At Home," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our App, and explains the choices available to you regarding your information.
This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms a part of our Terms & Conditions. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the App.
If you have any questions, you can contact us at support@eatathomeapp.com.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- Account information — such as your name and email address when you create an account
- Dinner and meal entries — descriptions, photos, or other details you log when recording home-cooked meals
- Onboarding preferences — your estimated spending averages, household size, and weekly cooking goal as provided during onboarding
- Support communications — information you provide when contacting us for assistance, including your email address and the content of your message
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data — how you interact with the App, including features used, screens visited, and session duration
- Device information — device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and app version
- Log and diagnostic data — crash reports, error logs, and performance data used to improve App reliability
Information Collected Through Bank Integration (Plaid)
Eat At Home LLC uses Plaid Technologies, Inc. ("Plaid") to connect to your financial accounts. If you choose to link a bank account, the following applies:
- What we access — We retrieve read-only transaction data from your linked accounts, specifically to identify dinner-related purchases and grocery transactions. We do not access your full account balance, credit limits, or unrelated transactions beyond what is necessary for this purpose.
- Your credentials — Your bank login credentials are entered directly into Plaid's secure interface and are never seen or stored by Eat At Home LLC.
- Plaid's role — Plaid acts as an independent data processor subject to its own Privacy Policy, available at plaid.com/legal/privacy-policy. By connecting your bank account, you also agree to Plaid's terms.
- Consent and control — Connecting a bank account is entirely optional. You may disconnect your linked account at any time within the App's settings, which will immediately stop further data retrieval.
- Data minimization — We store only the transaction data relevant to identifying dining-out and grocery purchases. We do not retain a full copy of your transaction history.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:
- Provide, operate, and improve the core features of the App, including tracking your dinner savings
- Identify dining-related and grocery transactions from your linked bank account to automate savings calculations
- Save your preferences and meal history across sessions
- Respond to your customer support requests and communications
- Send you service-related notifications and App updates (not marketing communications, unless you separately opt in)
- Analyze aggregated usage patterns to improve App performance, features, and user experience
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, abuse, and security threats
- Comply with applicable legal obligations, court orders, and governmental requests
- Enforce our Terms & Conditions and protect the rights, property, and safety of Eat At Home LLC, our users, and the public
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your personal information for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising purposes.
4. Data Sharing
We do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:
- Plaid — When you connect a bank account, your financial institution credentials and transaction data are processed by Plaid on our behalf under its own terms and privacy policy. See Section 2 for more detail.
- Service providers — We engage trusted third-party vendors (such as cloud hosting, analytics, and customer support platforms) that process data on our behalf solely for the purposes we specify, under written confidentiality and data processing agreements.
- Legal compliance and protection — We may disclose your information if required by applicable law, regulation, court order, or valid governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, property, or legal interests of Eat At Home LLC, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or prominent in-App notice before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
- With your consent — We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit, informed consent.
5. Financial Privacy Notice
Because the App accesses financial account data through Plaid, Eat At Home LLC may be subject to financial privacy regulations, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and the FTC's Standards for Safeguarding Customer Information (the "Safeguards Rule," 16 C.F.R. Part 314).
In accordance with applicable financial privacy laws and regulations, Eat At Home LLC:
- Collects and uses your financial information solely to provide and improve the App's services, as described in this Policy
- Does not sell, rent, or share your non-public personal financial information with non-affiliated third parties except as described in Section 4 and as permitted by applicable law
- Maintains a written information security program with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the size, complexity, and sensitivity of the financial information we handle
- Requires service providers who access or process your financial data to maintain appropriate security controls under written contractual agreements
- Maintains an incident response plan to promptly address any security breaches affecting your financial information
- Designates a qualified individual responsible for overseeing our information security program
For questions about our financial privacy practices, contact us at support@eatathomeapp.com.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as reasonably necessary to provide the App's services, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms & Conditions, and comply with our legal obligations. Our general retention periods are as follows:
- Account information: retained for the duration of your account and for up to three (3) years following account deletion, as required to fulfill legal and regulatory obligations
- Financial transaction data retrieved via Plaid: retained only as long as necessary to support your savings history in the App, and promptly deleted upon account deletion or bank account disconnection
- Customer support communications: retained for up to two (2) years
- Log and diagnostic data: retained for up to twelve (12) months
You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal information at any time by contacting us at support@eatathomeapp.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days, subject to any legal obligations requiring us to retain certain data for a longer period.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The App may use the following tracking technologies:
- Analytics tools — We may use third-party analytics services (such as Firebase Analytics or similar tools) that collect aggregated, anonymized data about how users interact with the App, including session data, feature usage, and device information. This data is used solely to understand and improve App performance.
- Crash reporting — We use crash reporting and error monitoring tools to detect and diagnose technical issues. These tools may collect device type, operating system, and diagnostic information about the nature of the crash or error.
We do not use advertising trackers, cross-site cookies, or tracking technologies for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising. You may limit certain data collection by adjusting your mobile device's privacy settings, though doing so may affect some App functionality.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction and applicable law, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal information. We will not discriminate against you in any way for exercising any of these rights.

10. Do Not Track

However, as stated throughout this Policy, we do not sell your personal information, track your activity across third-party websites, or use cross-context behavioral advertising.
11. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and Eat At Home LLC does not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children under 13, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you are under 13 years of age, you are strictly prohibited from using the App or submitting any personal information.
